Frank Zappa frame

I built this custom frame for artist, David Bollt. The drawing / air-brush was done by a colleague of his. I think Frank Zappa would be proud of the tribute. Frame something cool.

An evening with Martin Pate

Big thanks to my friend, Martin Pate for his demonstration here @ Dogwood Gallery.
He is truly one of the area's finest painters. Also, we appreciate the excellent crowd that
attended last Thursday. I hope to do more exhibitions like this in the near future, as it
gives the viewers a glimpse into the techniques used to create fine artwork.

saturday's auction

above is a painting that i donated to tonight's auction ... benefitting a local homeless teenage shelter. i think i titled it " wallcrawler ", 3-D paint on archival board, about 10" x 10" w/ a 6" mat border & very modern black frame. i am happy w/ the end result. whoever wins the bidding will be surprised to find that it glows in the dark. beneath that is " planet of the apes " head-on. click the images for a closer look.

out with the old, in with the new

black rain by jane whitehurst, oil on canvas

theme of destruction & renewal by scott silcox, oil on canvas

deception by allison j. smith, oil on canvas

as it is my last day as dogwood gallery's summer intern i thought i would show some of my personal favorites from the gallery. I'm intrigued by the mysterious and abstract compositions of jane whitehurst, scott silcox, and allison j. smith, and admire their ability to be so loose with their application of paint.

alas, i digress, and pass the torch on to the new intern who will be filling my postion as i return for one more year of college.

farewell!
