soldier by martin pate

painted in 1990, i see this graphite & oil on canvas as a pivotal piece. a point when the illustrator becomes the painter. i have had 3 people tell me their grandfathers owned the exact same gun. click the image & enjoy the details.

works by david boyd, jr.

with his palette knife, david has deconstructed the form in these paintings. as always, he gains interesting perspectives on everyday items. it is important for young artists to find their style. david's is unique.
