Watercolor Workshop

Alabama artist, Troy Crisswell led the workshop here @ Dogwood Gallery. The event was well attended by some very talented local artists. Troy's still-life approach focused on reflective lighting as well as creating atmosphere with watercolor washes used as background. Thanks to all involved. this work is oil on panel 11" x 14". finely painted w/ tons of troy's style & a small dose of creepy.

i am not sure if the figure is a ghost or engineer. a visitor commented that it was probably a hobo because they tended to travel w/ dogs for protection. painted w/ a plethora of greens, yet the subject is clearly defined. ( not an easy task ) click the image for a close up.

one thing i love about art is " artist just do their own thing ". they are inspired by their surroundings & the work of their fellow artists. but, in the end, they just can't help but be original. 2 artists i admire. now and then, we receive packages from alabama containing paintings by one of our favorite artist, troy crisswell. it feels like christmas morning... carefully cutting away the cardboard sandwich, marked "do not bend" to reveal the works inside. usually watercolors or oil on panel, these paintings are magnificent. note troy's brushstroke in these figurative pieces. you can click the image for a closer look & visit his site @ www.troycrisswell.com to view more works.

in the great green room, there was a telephone & a red balloon & a picture of the cow jumping over the moon. there were 3 little bears sitting in chairs & 2 little kittens & a pair of mittens. & a little toy house & a young mouse. & a comb & a brush & a bowl full of mush. & a quiet old lady who was whispering " hush ". goodnight room. goodnight moon. goodnight cow jumping over the moon. goodnight light & the red balloon. goodnight bears. goodnight chairs. goodnight kittens & goodnight mittens. goodnight clocks & goodnight socks. goodnight little house & goodnight mouse. goodnight comb & goodnight brush. goodnight nobody & goodnight mush. & goodnight to the old lady who whispers " hush ". good night stars. good night air. good night noises everywhere.
