Today's Daytona 500

It is only fitting that I feature works by David Boyd, Jr. today. " Earnhardt was one of the first guys to tip his number towards the front of the car as opposed to the back, like most drivers were doing @ the time. He said it made the car look faster & he was right. " D.B. Jr. Above is " #3 on the track, #1 in my heart " oil on canvas, 24" x 24". below is " Galveston Caddy " oil on canvas 48"x 48". please click the images for a closer look & note his knife work.

"i'm just a simple man"

Dogwood Gallery & Framer has three new works from Bill Evans, who describes himself as a simple man, who loves landscapes. Each work is remarkably clean in subject and carefully rendered with extreme skill. The medium is colored pencil on bristol.

new works by Troy Crisswell

The paintings above arrived to Dogwood Gallery today from our friend & artist, Troy Crisswell.
Each is watercolor on heavy paper, about 24" x 18" & as yet unframed. Troy's paintings consistently intrigue me. Realistic illustrations surrounded by abstract washes & given the illusion of movement with sound brushstroke. ( the flipping of the newspaper or the bike's shadow movement on the floor as time passes ) please click the images for a closer look.

saturday's auction

above is a painting that i donated to tonight's auction ... benefitting a local homeless teenage shelter. i think i titled it " wallcrawler ", 3-D paint on archival board, about 10" x 10" w/ a 6" mat border & very modern black frame. i am happy w/ the end result. whoever wins the bidding will be surprised to find that it glows in the dark. beneath that is " planet of the apes " head-on. click the images for a closer look.
