Charles Nivens uses the palette knife as his tool of choice so he can sculpt the paint into his vision of an urban scene or landscape. What strikes me in his fine works are not only the brush and knife strokes but the use of vibrant color. In his own words, Chalres Nivens is a "creator and in interpreter of light, form, movement, and lots of color."

 i applied the paint w/ a sense of balance and intended to glob, drip and throw paint on a 

 vertical surface. ( action painting was perfected by pollack and de kooning )
