An evening with Martin Pate

Big thanks to my friend, Martin Pate for his demonstration here @ Dogwood Gallery.
He is truly one of the area's finest painters. Also, we appreciate the excellent crowd that
attended last Thursday. I hope to do more exhibitions like this in the near future, as it
gives the viewers a glimpse into the techniques used to create fine artwork.

art x 3

one thing i love about art is " artist just do their own thing ". they are inspired by their surroundings & the work of their fellow artists. but, in the end, they just can't help but be original. 2 artists i admire. " the story teller " by troy crisswell ( watercolor ) & " red dress " by martin pate ( conte' & pastel ) 2 + 1 i just finished. " raskolnikov " ( mixed media ) please click the images for a close up.

" mountain farm " was meticulously painted on 30" x 24" canvas by our friend & talented, local artist, bob francisco. martin pate told me that he has entered 2 paintings into the same competition. we wish them the best. this is sure to be quite an exhibition.

young crow by martin pate

for me, it does not get much better than this. a small oil on canvas featuring a native american subject. this piece was expertly painted by a nationally known, yet local artist. the unpainted space around the boy adds drama & speaks volumes about martin's confidence as a painter. surrounded by a 3 1/4" la rochelle profile by roma moulding ( autumn trail ) this piece sold last weekend & i framed it yesterday. young crow was picked up this morning & is currently being driven west across the country. click on the pictures.
