Dennis Witnauer

"Common Yellowthroat"
oil on printed fabric
12" x 12"

"Willow Warbler"
oil on printed fabric
12" x 12"

New York artist, Dennis Witnauer, was one of the first to join Dogwood Gallery with his hand painted birds. He creates his work from photographs, notes and memory. The backgrounds are chosen specifically to depict the "character and personality" of each bird.  Dennis continues to be a gallery favorite.

Charles Nivens

Little Spot in Oregon
acrylic on canvas
24"x36"

Charles Nivens uses the palette knife as his tool of choice so he can sculpt the paint into his vision of an urban scene or landscape. What strikes me in his fine works are not only the brush and knife strokes but the use of vibrant color. In his own words, Chalres Nivens is a "creator and in interpreter of light, form, movement, and lots of color."
