encaustic at dogwood
above are 2 works by sherry cook of roscoe, ga. encaustics date back a couple thousand years. it is basically the art of painting with wax. after the wax is heated, sherry works very quickly on mounted plywood. by scraping the hardened surface, she adds linear details. these paintings are big & beautiful. full of texture, one can not help but to want to touch them.
