route 66 by troy crisswell

this work is oil on panel 11" x 14". finely painted w/ tons of troy's style & a small dose of creepy.
i am not sure if the figure is a ghost or engineer. a visitor commented that it was probably a hobo because they tended to travel w/ dogs for protection. painted w/ a plethora of greens, yet the subject is clearly defined. ( not an easy task ) click the image for a close up.

horizontal works x 3

the first image is by Ronnie Land, paint & varnish on jig-sawed board ( 40" x 30" ). this piece reminds me of the Jonny Quest cartoon. the second painting is " Red Sky " by William Evans of Fayetteville. oil on hard-board ( 24" x 10" ). this work is a nice example of transitional art. ( real subject matter painted w/ abstract colors & form ). last, but not least is a drawing by Martin Pate, conte' & pastel on bristol ( 20" x 16" ). his daughter modeled for this & the image was worked into a painting titled " Obelisk " set in a military cemetery. click the images for a closer look.

art x 3

one thing i love about art is " artist just do their own thing ". they are inspired by their surroundings & the work of their fellow artists. but, in the end, they just can't help but be original. 2 artists i admire. " the story teller " by troy crisswell ( watercolor ) & " red dress " by martin pate ( conte' & pastel ) 2 + 1 i just finished. " raskolnikov " ( mixed media ) please click the images for a close up.

mountain farm by bob francisco

this work has been submitted for the prestigious " oil painter's of america " competition, 2010. " mountain farm " was meticulously painted on 30" x 24" canvas by our friend & talented, local artist, bob francisco. martin pate told me that he has entered 2 paintings into the same competition. we wish them the best. this is sure to be quite an exhibition.
